This is a non-diving course and will give you the knowledge of what to do in the
event of an accident involving injury to a third party.
You will learn the key skills of how to stop bleeding, clear a blocked airway,
check for a pulse and breathing, and more importantly when neither can be found,
how to administer ventilations and chest compressions otherwise known as cardiopulmonary
resuscitation (CPR).
Additionally you will learn how to use a defibrillator - the machine that will
enable you to restart the heart using an electric shock! You will also learn how
to deal with and treat other injuries such as electrocution, burns, hypothermia,
and heat stroke.
Note: this course or equivalent is a prerequisite for the
Rescue
Diver course.
