Tropical Fish Discover Scuba Course

The Cost is £40.00, but a second booking is only £20.00 through February, March and April

Start Times and Venue

Generally they start from 8-10pm every Friday evening at Putney Leisure Centre or at Surbiton on a Saturday afternoon from 1.30pm. (Directions: Fridays Meet by the pool at Putney, Saturdays meet at the Shop)

What Happens

Prior to entering the water we explain some of the serious aspects to diving and help you understand how to equalise and why you need to. After this we get you involved with putting the kit together and checking it is ready for your use. This knowledge and hands on approach to putting your kit together will help make you feel more comfortable about the equipment and what it is supposed to do, when you are wearing it in the water.

In the Water

We help you into your kit in shallow water, brief you again of what basic skills we might be doing and show you a few underwater communication signals so that we can understand each other without having to surface. Then the time comes when we slowly submerge getting used to breathing of the scuba unit and gradually ending up on our knees in the shallow end.

(We will only be a few inches below the surface at this point developing your confidence and making you breathe more slowly if you find yourself a little excited).
From here on you will experience the wonder of being under water, the strange but comforting sound of your breathing and go for an underwater swim. It is then you will experience weightlessness for the first time and after a couple of circuits down to the deep end and back your session will be nearly at an end. Once you have exited the water and broken down the gear you may well wish to know what the next stage of your Adventure is.

We all hope your experience has been a good one and you will take away your Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) Completion and Registration form in an envelope plus details about the next step, the courses and “What’s Involved”.

The Adventure Continues

Your adventure can continue by booking onto a further diving course and provided it is within 7 days of your DSD you will get ½ the cost of your DSD evening or afternoon discounted off the course Fee.

WE all very much hope you enjoyed the experience and it will be our pleasure to take you on to the next stage.
